Kurt Bassuener is presently conducting his dissertation research in Macedonia, hosted by DPC partner Eurothink. His dissertation at the University of St. Andrews compares the effect of internationally brokered peace and power-sharing arrangements on democratic development and political accountability in three countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Lebanon. His fieldwork coincides with the two rounds of municipal elections in Macedonia, held on October 15 and 29, respectively.
